Item/Description: "Checkers, Up At The Farm" plaster sculpture features two gentlemen playing checkers with a mom and baby looking on. Marked in base: John Rogers New York / Patented December 28th 1875 / Checkers Up at the Farm.
John Rogers (American, 1829–1904) sculptor who produced very popular figurines in the latter 19th century. His small genre sculptures were popularly termed "Rogers Groups"
